With FritzApp TV for iOS, cable customers can stream unencrypted cable TV channels directly from their FritzBox to their iPhone or iPad. AVM has now released an update that simplifies setup in the app.

The update for iOS is now available and should have arrived automatically with most users. According to AVM, FritzApp TV 2.1.1 is a function update with an innovation for the channel search, which simplifies the setup.

The easiest way to get the update is via the auto-update function directly on the smartphone or via the App Store. According to the release notes, no security-relevant changes were published. We’ve added the release notes at the end of the post.

However, the simplified setup can only be used if you are using either FritzOS Beta 7.39 or FritzOS 7.50 on the connected FritzBox.

Feedback wanted

AVM asks users of the app to send feedback on the application in order to improve the apps and eliminate problems faster. Suggestions for improvement and feature requests can also be sent to AVM in this way. The update for the Fritz App TV for iOS to version 2.0.6 is now available.

The app can do that

With FritzApp TV for iOS, cable customers can see all unencrypted cable TV channels using either a FritzBox Cable with TV streaming function or a WLAN repeater with DVB-C. The TV signal from the cable TV connection is distributed throughout the home network via WLAN or LAN. With the app you can then simply watch the cable channels on your iPhone and iPad. The minimum requirement is an iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or higher.
