Uruguayan striker Gabriel Leyes reinforces the attack of the Municipal de Guatemala

Guatemala City, Aug 7 (EFE).- The Uruguayan forward Gabriel Leyes has become this Monday the new reinforcement of the Municipal for the Guatemalan Apertura tournament.

Leyes, 33, signed with Municipal after disassociating himself with Academia Cantolao of the first division of Peruvian soccer

The striker has spent most of his career in clubs in Uruguay and Peru. He was a member of Peñarol and River Plate, as well as Alianza Lima, Carlos Stein and Cantolao.

Law’s professional career began in 2009 and during this time he has scored 50 goals in 213 official matches.

The challenge of the Uruguayan striker, in his first experience in Central America, will be to lead the attack of Municipal, one of the two most winning teams in Guatemala with 31 titles.

Municipal, directed by the Argentine Sebastían Bini, is looking for a new league title that has resisted it since the conquest of the Apertura 2019 tournament.

Municipal accumulates a defeat and a draw so far in the tournament.

Leyes has been champion in his career twice: the first with Uruguayan Peñarol in 2016 and the last with Alianza Lima in 2017. EFE
