The Chief of Staff, Agustín Rossi, made his briefing in the National Senate, where he measured himself when talking about inflation and affirmed that the Government seeks “to keep it as low as possible” and strongly criticized the Judiciary for the precautionary measures in San Juan and Tucumán that prevented elections from being held this Sunday in both territories.

“We are traveling at a speed of 100% inflation, with external effects that must be recognized,” Rossi said, stressing that the government is looking for inflation in 2023 “to be as low as possible.”

During his bimonthly report to the Upper House, the Chief of Staff stated that “in the second half of January prices accelerated” and asserted that “The market took note not of the drought, but of the effects, and came to the conclusion that the government is going to lack twenty billion dollars”.

“As they believed that the government was going to devalue, they set the prices to anticipate that devaluation. This is what happened this year in a country that comes with an inflationary inertia that it was not created by this government”, explained the man from Rosario, at the same time that he took the opportunity to point against the previous government: “Let us remember that (former President Mauricio) Macri left the government with 54% inflation”.

In the same sense, the Chief of Staff justified: “there is a scenario in the Argentine economy in which, due to the pandemic, it lacked 20 billion dollars and we do not have it. And, product of the war, we have a deficit of five billion dollars”.

“As you know, the issue of reserves (monetary in the Central Bank) has a direct impact on inflation in Argentina. We are trying to keep inflation this year as low as possible.”he stressed.

The presentation of the Chief of Staff, was given in the prelude to the publication of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April, which the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses will publish on May 14 at 4:00 p.m.

During his address, Rossi gave a place to the conflict that the national government has with the Judiciary and stated that “justice is a power that does not work.”

Along the same lines, the Chief of Staff added: “Now we have a new fact that is the appearance of the judicial Party. A series of prosecutors and judges who took over part of the functioning of the Judiciary and act as a party, they do not impart Justice. The members of the Court are part of that party, without any doubt”.

“They concentrated that persecution on Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. How can we forget that Claudio Bonadio summoned her 8 times for investigation. The judicial persecution of the Judicial Party was clearly against political figures”, insisted the man from Rosario and waved the lawfare flag again.

“No one can assure us that what they did with the elections in San Juan and Tucumán, they will not do if Cristina is a candidate and that what happened to Lula will happen,” Rossi said.

In addition, Rossi emphasized that “Justice meddles in the powers of other powers” and recalled that after 15 years of sanctioning the reform of the Council of the Magistracy, the “Judicial Party” defined that it was unconstitutional. “It was not within their powers to replace a law. The laws are in force or repealed. The Court understood that its ruling was enough to replace a repealed law.

“Not only does he get into the legislative branch, but on Tuesday, the president of the Court, Horacio Rosatti, told us that the monetary issue could become unconstitutional. You have to have a toupee, they cannot administer the social work of the judiciary and they want to get into the administration of the economy of Argentina “he pointed.
