Sports Writing, May 11 (EFE).- Puerto Rican shortstop Carlos Correa hit a two-run double to break the tie in the seventh inning and decide this Thursday the victory of the Minnesota Twins 5-3 over the San Diego Padres .

The victory was the second straight for the Twins, who won their three-game series against the Padres after a three-game losing streak.

For Correa it was his second two-base hit, with three RBIs in his last two games, after a difficult week with the baton, in which he admitted that he booed himself, hitting just one hit, which was a home run, in 17 appearances at bat, with one scored and one towed.

To achieve this victory, the Twins had to come from behind, since the Padres began their attack in the same first inning, when the Dominican Fernando Tatis Jr. disappeared the ball from the park to the first pitch made by the Minnesota starter, Bailey Ober, for the first race of the San Diego.

The Twins tied it 1-1 in the second inning when Joey Gallo drew a walk, to bring the first run for Minnesota to the register.

The Padres returned to the attack in the fourth inning and with a double to the left field zone, the Dominican Juan Soto brought his compatriot Manny Machado home, so that the visitors returned to take the advantage 1-2 in the game .

Kyle Farmer sent the ball into the stands in left-center field for a solo homer to tie it 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Venezuelan Rougned Odor was present in the fifth inning and with a home run put the Padres ahead 2-3 once again.

Actions remained unchanged until the decisive seventh inning for the Twins, who kicked off their final comeback by scoring the tying run on a fielder’s choice to shortstop by Max Kepler, setting the stage for Correa’s game-winning drive.

The star shortstop came to bat with two runners on and two out against Padres reliever Steven Wilson, whom he hit with a double to left field, driving in the two runs that gave the Twins the win.

For those from Minnesota, who had six innings of three runs and six strikeouts by Ober, the victory was credited to Puerto Rican reliever Emilio Pagán (3-0), who worked a blank inning with one strikeout.

The save was for Puerto Rican closer Jorge López (2), with a scoreless episode and two strikeouts.

The loss for the Padres, who wasted six two-run innings and struck out seven by Yu Darvish, went to Brent Honeywell (2-2), who was hit with three runs in just two-thirds of an inning.

For the Twins, Correa had two RBIs and Jorge Polanco hit a hit.

For the Padres, Tatis Jr. and Odor each scored and drove in a run, Soto produced one and Machado hit the plate once.
