Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen will visit Austria tomorrow at the coronation of British King Charles III. represented in London’s Westminster Abbey.

“I appreciate Charles,” said the Federal President in advance to the APA. “We have met several times. He and Camilla were already visiting Vienna in 2017.” There were also repeated encounters with Charles at climate policy meetings.

“A very committed environmentalist”

Charles himself is “a very committed environmentalist,” said Van der Bellen. There is “an affinity” for him, “and I wish him all the best”. When asked how he personally experienced the long-standing heir to the throne and now king during his visit to Vienna, the Federal President said he was “very pleasant, uncomplicated, open”. “The one-to-one conversation, I can remember, was very interesting and it was private.”

2017 visiting Vienna

In April 2017, the then British heir to the throne, Charles, traveled to Vienna with his wife Camilla for an official visit and had both political and cultural appointments.
