A series of mysterious robberies in Tokyo have targeted local trading card stores where large quantities of Pokémon Trading Card Game cards have been stolen.
With the rise in popularity of the franchise’s cards, attempts at trading card draws Pokemon they have become a growing problem around the world.

For years, letters from JCC Pokemon they have been a popular collectible for many fans of the franchise. However, a recent resurgence in cards caused by internet trends like Pokémon card pack opening videos have seen the value of these products skyrocket.
With this newfound popularity, some are willing to do whatever it takes to grab as many cards as possible. Unfortunately, this can lead some to commit crimes in order to possess these cards.
Reports from The Japan Times report that these robberies have been taking place since last summer. To date, there have been five reported robberies at local trading card stores in which rare Pokémon cards have been stolen.
In a robbery case, sixty letters were stolen that totaled about 8.5 million yen ($64,000 approx.). As Pokémon card thieves become more common, trading card stores have suffered terrible financial losses at the hands of these thieves.
