Venezuela closed a political and social cycle

CARACAS.- “Venezuela is experiencing a profound change. On October 22, a political and social cycle closed, and a new era begins,” said the opposition candidate, Maria Corina Machadostandard bearer who will face Nicolás Maduro at the electoral polls in the 2024 presidential elections.

In an interview granted to the chain BBCMachado recalled that the national political situation in Venezuela has undergone important changes. “I believe that there are important things regarding the regime. It is in a moment of enormous tensions internally. They have looted Venezuela and evidently a mafia system is voracious and insatiable, and when there is no more money to grab, the clashes between them are brutal,” he commented.

Furthermore, the Venezuelan has once again opted for the electoral path as a way to overthrow the dictatorship, based on unity in the opposition. Furthermore, Machado recalled that the social base that Chavismo had is now non-existent.

“Chavismo completely lost its social base and society’s desire goes beyond a figure; it is a change of system, a change of values,” he recalled.

“Before there were problems, but others took care of it and since there was money, money was enough for everything… We have learned the hard way, but we have learned and we have discovered what it means to be Venezuelan and want to continue being Venezuelans,” he warns.

When asked about the profile of the new Venezuelan who has learned from political mistakes, Machado affirms that “the country wants a new way of doing politics. It tremendously rejects populism and lies, wherever it comes from… Yes, I have I have traveled many long deserts and alone, but I think that in the end, maintaining a vision, defending what you believe in, made society say “the time has come” and many myths have actually fallen.

On October 22, Machado won the opposition primaries, in which 2.4 million Venezuelans participated.

However, the regime of Nicolás Maduro, in an attempt to torpedo Machado’s candidacy, has insisted that the candidate is disqualified.

“Accepting that the scenario that I am not qualified is accepting a defeat that I will never accept, much less after the victory we just had,” she emphasized.
