Venezuelan creates board game in Miami to revive his country's culture

MIAMI.- Luis Losacco arrived at Miami In 2016, and like many Venezuelans, exile has been an open door to yearn every day for the culture and traditions of the place where they were born. With this premise, and considering the sociopolitical crisis that forced him to emigrate from his country, Luis Losacco developed “Mete la mano”, a game table containing 64 cards inspired and dedicated to Venezuela: arepa, empanada, cachapa, malta, chicha, exprpiese and more, are some of them.

Creating the game

Regarding the creation of this fun proposal, Losacco told DIARIO LAS AMRICAS that it all began with a conversation between friends.

“It was a game night with friends. We were having a great time and it occurred to me that I could do something similar, but dedicated to and inspired by Venezuela. It is no secret to anyone everything that we Venezuelans have had to live through in recent times, both outside and inside the country, and so I thought it was a good idea to be able to bring Venezuelans together at a table so they can laugh and enjoy a moment in which they can forget those bad times,” said the young man. Venezuelan.

To materialize the idea, Luis worked on it for 12 months; just when he turned 8 years living in Miami – on April 30, 2024 – “Mete la mano” hit the board game market.

“From the moment I came up with the idea and drew it out until I made it a reality, it took me a year,” said Losacco, who said that this project represented a risk for him. “Thinking about whether I would be able to carry it out and whether it would be accepted by people, I took the risk and so far the result has been incredible,” he added.

And three months after its launch, “Mete la mano” has been well received. Proof of this are the reviews that have been posted on social networks about its release and use.

“What a genius, my friend. You are a very creative person”, “Wow, I want to have one of those. Congratulations, my love”, “He is very good”, “Hey, how ingenious this boy; as is typical of Venezuelans, we are able to give a twist to many negative situations and turn them into positive ones”, “Very cool, I love it”, “Thanks for that gift to the Venezuelans. I will buy it”, are some of the comments that can be read on the Instagram account @luizlo.

“The reception has been incredible, many Venezuelans living in different countries have shown interest in buying and learning more about the game. I have also received a lot of support from the press and media, who have reviewed the creation of my idea. I am very happy with that,” said Luis Losacco, indicating that the game can be purchased on different platforms.

“”Mete la mano” is available on the TikTok shop, for purchase throughout the United States. It is also available on Amazon and Etsy for purchase from anywhere in the world,” the young Venezuelan concluded.
