Video captures the moment a Russian missile hits a theater in Chernihiv, Ukraine, leaving 7 dead and 144 injured

A video shows the exact moment in which a Russian missile attack targets a theater in the city of Chernihiv in Ukraineleaving a trail of devastation.

According to Reuters, at least seven people lost their lives, while another 144 were injured in the attack. Among the injured are fifteen children and sadly, a 6-year-old girl named Sofia lost her life in the missile attack.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko shared information about the violent situation via Telegram. He explained that the victims were mainly pedestrians.people returning from church or vehicle occupants at the time of the missile impact.

Klymenko expressed the somber atmosphere of the incident, describing it as a “festive Saturday morning” during which people had just left the church with consecrated apples.

Chernihiv, with a population of around 285,000, lies far from the front line in northern Ukraine, making the attack all the more shocking for its residents.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his determination to respond to the missile attack, calling it a “terrorist attack.” Zelensky’s resolution reflects the nation’s stance against such acts of violence.

Oleksandr Lomako, Mayor of Chernihiv, emphasized the civilian nature of the attack and claimed the theater was hosting a meeting of drone manufacturers. Lomako noted that the missile’s intended target could have been an in-theater military event, but the consequences were primarily civilian.

The international community has condemned the attack and expressed concern about the violation of international humanitarian law. Denise Brown, head of the United Nations in Ukraine, condemned the incident and called for an end to such attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, according to Reuters.
