Four people were found charred following the explosion at the gas main in Călimăneşti, and five other people, injured, were transported to the hospital for medical care, informed the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Vrancea.

“On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, we were requested to intervene following the occurrence of an explosion followed by a fire, on the construction site of Autostrazii Moldovai, in front of the town of Călimăneşti. As a result of the event, five injured victims resulted. Unfortunately, they were discovered on the spot four charred victims”, said the spokesperson of ISU Vrancea, Florin Olaru.
According to him, the injured victims were transported to the Emergency Department of the Adjud Municipal Hospital, two of them, who suffered burns, will be transported to two medical units in the Capital.
Both the deceased and those injured in the fire were carrying out construction work on the Moldovei Highway construction site.
The red intervention plan was activated, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, at 01:30, following an explosion at a gas main from Călimăneşti. The fire was extinguished after about three hours, and the cooling of the machines affected by the fire continued.
Six water and foam extinguishing vehicles, four SMURD ambulances, a vehicle for transporting people and multiple victims from ISU Vrancea and five ambulances from the Vrancea County Ambulance Service intervened at the scene.
