A person identified as Mario Alberto Romero alias ‘El Tucán’ sent a message through his lawyer José Refugio Rodríguez, to the program of journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva, in which he assures that it was not he who ordered the journalist to be killed, as reported.
The attorney said his client travels across the country under his name and is not a fugitive from justice.
He acknowledged that “El Toucan” was in prison accused of organized crime, but he came out of jail, and he is not a criminal, and he wants to deny that he is behind the attack against Ciro.
He added that he is willing to speak, and that he respects Mr. Ciro Gómez Leyva, as well as freedom of expression, but I want to clarify that I have nothing to do with this attack, and he is willing to speak before any authority, since it is not the objective of federal justice.
Finally, he is not capable of attacking someone for information that is disseminated.
