“You know how I take her to school and shoot the teacher here… Listen.” That is the phrase that a boy of just 11 years old is heard saying in a video that EL DIA published over the weekend and that caused a stir, and for which this Monday is the topic of conversation and debate at the door of the Primary Nº 55, “Juan Vucetich”.
This newspaper learned that out of fear, some parents did not send their children to school, and gathered at the door of 28 and 62 to demand explanations from the managers. From 8 o’clock, the authorities hold a meeting with the sixth grade educational community, and once it is over they assured them that they will receive the representatives of the other courses.
It is that the parents were upset all weekend by the creepy scene that occurred in a sixth grade class and today was the first face-to-face contact after extensive chats in WhatsApp groups. They are still shaken by the images of the threat and what would have happened later, where they denounce that the boy exhibited the weapon in the classroom and immediately afterwards hit the teacher with the butt.
The situation, according to the testimonies collected by this newspaper and investigated by the General Directorate of Culture and Education, occurred last Friday and would not have surprised everyone, since at that time the video was already circulating where the boy anticipated what he would denounce.
“You know how I take her to school and I shoot the teacher here… Listen”, is seen and heard in one of the videos attributed to the child and which was published exclusively by EL DIA. When he says “here”, he points the muzzle of the gun at her head. The sequence abounds in language that borders on a boy’s game but in the school community they denounce that what was seen had nothing of that, despite the fact that there would not be any in the Police.
In this context, this newspaper was told that “the school authorities are intervening” on the fact of the student who showed a pistol that would be “a replica” and that it would work with air and has a diminished power. The truth is that it was possible to know that there were several parents who demanded answers from the school authorities this morning: “We are afraid that something worse will happen,” a mother told EL DIA this Monday.
“All weekend we spoke among the parents that some measure must be taken. There cannot be this degree of violence in the classroom. He is a boy of just 11 years old,” added the same source. The anger also lies in the fact that they found out in the parent groups that same Friday at 11:00 p.m.
“They didn’t even notify us. When we found out, our blood ran cold,” said another member of the school’s community of relatives. Based on what happened and in the midst of concern, the parents met today at the school and asked a joint meeting with the authorities to express their concern and that preventive measures be applied “so that nothing terrible happens.”
A fact with background
As reported by this newspaper, according to the parents of a group of girls who attend sixth grade, one of the students came to school with a compressed air pistol that, in view of someone who does not know weapons, seems to be of a large caliber. At some point during the day he exposed it in the classroom and later in the patio. They even believe that the incident with the teacher would have occurred later, inside the classroom.
The truth is that this fact, which today is on everyone’s lips and even took national status in the news, has a close history. Among those, one occurred earlier this month at another primary school in the Region. In the descriptions that this newspaper received, the events occurred in the morning and were brought to the attention of the school authorities. However, they claimed that they were not notified by the institution regarding what happened, but that they found out from the statements of their children and from film material that circulated since then.
