Video: Police officers mistakenly detain a family visiting Texas at gunpoint

DALLAS, Texas – Video of the wrongful arrest of a family on a highway in North Texas has gone viral on social media, where they have harshly criticized Frisco city authorities.

A family visiting the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area was mistakenly victimized by Frisco, Texas police, who held them at gunpoint on the grounds that they were in a stolen car.

The Arkansas resident family, between surprise, fear, tears and nerves, obeyed the officers who took them out to be checked.

The incident that occurred on July 23 was recorded on the officers’ body cameras. After several tense minutes, it ended with an apology from the authorities.

Frisco police released the video and apologized, explaining that they mistakenly looked up the vehicle’s license plate number and checked Arizona records and not Arkansas, where the family is from. That’s why the record indicated that it was stolen.

The authorities continue with the investigation.
