The “Alberto Ginastera” hall of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, one of the most prominent in the country, reopens with a choral symphonic concert by the orchestra and the stable choir and four solo singers, offering Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The musical direction will be by Carlos Vieu, while Eduviges Picone will be in charge of the preparation of the choir and soprano Paula Almerares, mezzosoprano Cecilia Díaz, tenor Juan Carlos Vassallo and baritone Hernán Iturralde will also participate.

The ceremony will begin with the Argentine National Anthem, which will be accompanied by the Camerata Académica, directed by Bernardo Teruggi, and the Children’s Choir, conducted by Mónica Dagorret.

The Ginastera room, with capacity for 1,780 spectators and a stage of 1,365 square meters, was closed in November 2017 by the Government of María Eugenia Vidal to carry out maintenance and repair works.

The truth is that these works, scheduled in four stages, remained unfinished and this implied an almost total paralysis of the theater’s activity, a fact that its workers, members of the stable and technical bodies repeatedly denounced.

The current administration began a plan to achieve the integral functionality of the artistic complex that presented problems with air conditioning, leaks and floods, lack of heating, vandalism, poor lighting, unusable dressing rooms and detached ceilings.

The Buenos Aires Government thus carried out thermo-mechanical conditioning tasks for an amount of 195 million pesos and completed electrical and hydraulic works for 95 million, which allowed the forklifts and the orchestra pit to be operational.

In addition, the ventilation and air removal system was improved, the stage was conditioned, the curtain system was put into operation, the bathrooms for the public were fixed and the debris of the original work was removed, which improved the safety of operators and allowed subsequent work.

“Another of the dimensions that had to be addressed was that referring to the stable floor of the theater. In this sense, the Cultural Institute began a dialogue with union representatives and delegates to address concerns and needs,” it was highlighted in a statement.

Thus, the signing of an extraordinary recategorization (for all workers of Law No. 12,268) and the call for competitions to cover 13 positions in the Orchestra, 11 in the Stable Ballet and another 11 to complete the Stable Choir were highlighted. .

The reuse of the Ginastera will allow the return of an artistic season with a series of concerts, operas, ballets and an extensive program.
