Through the eight episodes, shot during the 2022 edition of the Tour de France, and of which franceinfo is a partner, the series lifts the veil on the biggest cycling race in the world: from the preparation of the race to the finish line in Paris, it follows all the actors of the Tour, the riders to team managers, and exposes the many challenges of the race broadcast in 190 countries. The documentary offers images within the Tour caravan, in the cars of the race directors, as well as on the bikes of the riders equipped with on-board cameras.

The quest for the yellow jersey

The first episode of the series is devoted to the first stages of the Tour 2022 which criss-crossed Denmark. Two teams are put forward, EF Education-EasyPost and Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, team of Julian Alaphilippe absent that year, which clashed in particular during the inaugural time trial in Copenhagen.

In episode number 2, Team Jumbo-Visma is in the spotlight with the peloton’s arrival in France, in Hauts-de-France. The riders then link Dunkirk to Calais, before facing the cobblestones of the North the next day over more than 19 kilometers in a stage linking Lille-Métropole to Arenberg Porte du Hainaut. It is then the beginning of the quest for the yellow jersey for the Jumbo-Visma of the Dane Jonas Vingegaard against the Slovenian Tadej Pogačar, double winner in 2020 and 2021. It is Jonas Vingegaard who will win the Tour 2022 on July 24 in Paris.
