The star of the saga Fast & Furiousthat the media had announced to the casting of the sequels of the James Cameron franchise, will not ultimately be part of it.

Vin Diesel will not fly to Pandora, the planet where the plot ofAvatar. The star of Fast & Furious will not be part of the sequels to James Cameron’s science fiction franchise, saga producer Jon Landau said this week in the columns of the review Empire.

The media had announced the news in 2019, based on declarations of the comedian: “There is a person in Hollywood with whom I have always wanted to work and everything comes to the point to who knows how to wait”, he had said in a video posted on Instagram where he posed alongside James Cameron on the set ofAvatar 2 and 3.

“Vin is just a fan”

The Anglo-Saxon specialized press had published the announcement without Vin Diesel or James Cameron denying the information. Diesel had even explained to MTV: “I love James Cameron and I love the show. I think it is certain that we will work together.”

“Vin is just a fan,” Jon Landau said in Empire. “He came, he visited us one day to see how we worked and people took that out of context!”

Starring in two blockbusters

Vin Diesel had nevertheless declared at the microphone ofEntertainmentTonight that his friendship with actress Zoe Saldaña (aka Neytiri) was one of the reasons he “did[t] Avatar.” Vin Diesel will still be showing two blockbusters in 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 3) and Fast and Furious 10 (at the cinema on May 17).

The third part of the saga Avatar will be in theaters in December 2024. We still don’t know what the film will be about, which will notably feature a Na’vi tribe in communion with fire. Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis (Harry Potter) join a cast already made up of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña and Sigourney Weaver.
