Mexico City.- With the aim of keeping the function fresh, WhatsApp announced various new features for ‘statuses’, among which is the possibility of using a voice note to update the tool.

WhatsApp statuses, launched in 2017, was not a welcome innovation for the community at the time, but today it is a highly customizable feature.

Aware of the relevance they have acquired for users, the company launched a series of innovations that range from entertainment to privacy.

“WhatsApp has announced a package of new updates that will arrive for the states, giving you more ways to connect with your friends and family,” said the company belonging to Meta, owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

One of the most striking updates is, as we already mentioned, the use of sound files. Starting today, people will be able to record voice messages of up to 30 seconds and share them on their status.

The next most prominent is the privacy selector; now users will choose who sees their statuses each time they update it.

“The most recent public that you have selected will be saved and will be used as the default in your next state,” WhatsApp detailed.

Another addition is the reactions, to use it, all you have to do is slide your finger up in a certain state and eight default emojis will appear to interact with friends.

To see the statuses, before you had to go to the specific part within the app, now, as in Facebook Messenger, a circle will appear in the profile photos of the chats indicating that this contact updated their status; it will be possible to access it by selecting the ring.

Finally, when sharing a link to an external page, a preview of the content that appears in the status will appear.

WhatsApp explained that the updates have started rolling out to users around the world and that they will gradually be made available to everyone in the coming weeks.
