Voracious fire leaves three dead and several injured: NYPD

Three people are dead and more than a dozen injured after a fire broke out at a Crown Heights building Sunday morning, authorities said.

The FDNY said three people were seriously injured and removed from the scene of the fire.

The NYPD said those three people were pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County.

In total, there are 17 victims, according to the FDNY.

Six were injured in the three-story building where the fire started, and the rest suffered minor injuries in neighboring buildings.

One firefighter has serious, non-life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said.

According to the FDNY, teams responded around 4:30 a.m. to a multi-family home on Albany Avenue in the Crown Heights area.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
