“Shopping with a Cop” Event Prepares Denver Students for Back-to-School

DENVER, Colorado – Tomorrow, August 19, 2023, more than 30 Denver Police officers will join the Denver Police Youth Charitable Foundation to help children prepare for the return to school.

Starting at 8:30 am, at the Walmart located at 5650 S. Chambers Rd. in Aurora, 25 Denver students will partner with officers in a “Shop with a Cop” event, with the goal of helping these kids get clothing and school supplies needed to start a successful school year.

The 25 participating children were selected in collaboration with two Denver churches. During the event, each child will purchase approximately $200 worth of school supplies and clothing while enjoying shopping and having fun with uniformed DPD officers.

The Denver Police Youth Charitable Foundation is a newly founded organization. It was created by two Denver Police officers, a Denver Police Chaplain, a Jeffco Dispatcher, and a former victim advocate who saw a need to help the law enforcement community, including the Denver Police Department, to build relationships with the communities they serve through various programs, including “Shop with a Cop.”
