This complaint was revealed by the secretary general of RSF, Christophe Deloire, during a ceremony organized in Kiev in tribute to Arman Soldin, killed Tuesday during a salvo of rockets in the east of the country. On Wednesday, the French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office announced that it had opened a war crime investigation, entrusted to the Central Office for the Fight against Crimes against Humanity and Hate Crimes, intended to establish the circumstances of the death of the 32-year-old journalist. . “Even if there is no conclusion yet today, we of course mention the name of Arman Soldin” in RSF’s complaint, also filed with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, explained Christophe Deloire.
“Enforced disappearances of journalists”
It concerns more generally, according to him, “journalists who are clearly targeted, like Bogdan Bitik”, a Ukrainian reporter working as a fixer for the Italian daily La Repubblica, killed by sniper fire in late April. She also denounces the “enforced disappearances of journalists, like that of Dmytro Khyliuk”, a correspondent for the Ukrainian Independent News Agency (UNIAN) who, according to RSF, “was abducted (last year) by Russian forces and has since remained detained in Russia despite the country’s repeated denials.” It also covers the “bombing of television towers”damage to “right to information”for Christophe Deloire.
In total, the NGO filed “eight complaints concerning 53 events, 121 journalists and 14 radio/television media equipment, all qualifying as war crimes”, said the NGO.
