Recently, we were talking to you about the postponement of Season 2 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 which is eagerly awaited by the community, because it will bring the hardcore mode, but also profound changes related to the gameplay and the very mechanics of the new Warzone as we let’s learn today.

Infinity Ward Confirms Return of 1v1 Gulag and Default 3-Plate Vests

Released in mid-November 2022, Warzone 2.0 was certainly one of the most anticipated games of the past year and the first figures did not contradict it with a record number of players in the first days and unprecedented enthusiasm. Nevertheless, the sauce doesn’t seem to have taken as long as expected if we are to believe the sharp drop in player numbers over the past few weeks. There is no shortage of community requests on social networks and the developers seem to have taken many of these comments into account.

Infinity Ward has confirmed that general stability fixes, weapon balancing, audio tweaks, and UI optimizations on PC are planned for Season 2. That’s not all though as the Gulag in 1v1 will be back as announced by the studio in an article published on his blog.

“With this change, players will see the return of Warzone’s original overtime mechanic – the Domination-style flag checkpoint – in place of the Jailer.

In order to get this change live faster, we’ve changed the Season 01 Gulag to improve 1v1 combat, but we’re actively working on creating a dedicated 1v1 map for future seasons.

In terms of novelties, we also learn that the backpacks to loot from eliminated players will disappear and that the loot will be scattered on the ground next to the corpses as in the first opus.

“In our continued effort to balance engagements, medium/large backpacks will no longer be available and eliminated players will drop loot on the ground instead of loot-filled backpacks.

Each player will have the same backpack for the entire game, which will subsequently reduce the impact of stacking medical supplies, equipment, and Killstreaks.”

In the same vein, the vests by default will now be three-plate vests, the loot will integrate more money and certain items to buy will be less expensive. For example, tactical drops will be slightly cheaper and may even be found by chance on Al Mazrah on “very rare occasions”. Drops will now occur during the first and fifth circles of each match.

Finally, Customizable Perk Packs for Warzone 2.0 are finally coming, but they will be slightly reduced in number per pack to begin with. Season 2 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is due out February 15 and the games are still available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4|5 and PC.
