An individual was tackled to the ground after singing this song of the Yellow Vests, taken up during all the demonstrations against the pension reform. The president had already been arrested on Tuesday in The Hague by young people.

A new episode. The trip of the Head of State this Wednesday morning to the University of Amsterdam was disturbed by a demonstrator who sang an anti-Macron song.

“We’re here, we’re here. Even if Macron doesn’t want to, we’re here,” sang the individual, before being quickly tackled to the ground by security forces and then arrested.

“Where is French democracy?”

Systematically intoned in mobilizations against pension reform, this air is now one of the classics of protest songs. This anthem was launched during the Yellow Vests movement in the fall of 2018.

This is the third time in less than 24 hours that Emmanuel Macron has been targeted by opponents during his visit to the Netherlands, two days before the long-awaited decision of the Constitutional Council on retirement at 64. This Tuesday afternoon, the president was interrupted during a speech at the Dutch research center in The Hague.

“Sorry to interrupt you … but where is French democracy?”, launched a first activist in English.

Emmanuel Macron was delighted “to have a social debate”

The Head of State was again arrested, this time by another person. “No one is listening… you have millions of people in the street,” said another speaker, referring to the protest movement against pension reform.

Another incident: young people tried to hang a banner on which one could read “President of violence and hypocrisy” in the room where the French president had just spoken, before their evacuation by security. Emmanuel Macron reacted directly on stage, judging “very important to have a social debate”.

“This is a democracy and a democracy is exactly a place where you can demonstrate” and see “this type of intervention”, he stressed.

In France, the president has been relatively discreet on the ground in recent weeks, with the exception of a trip to Savines-le-Lac.
