After a terrific finish in the 2nd division where they had to go through a three-part promotion qualification, Center Gaming is finally ready to try their hand at the Telialiga’s highest level. The team has kept the same squad as last year, and has great faith that they will be able to stay in the division.

Gamer.no continues the countdown to Telialiga’s spring season in Counter-Strike. The first round is played on Monday 30 January, and the difference between the teams has never been smaller.

Center Gaming is the second team out in our article series, which means that the team is predicted in 9th place.

Play each other good

We had a chat with Oliver “Smistadjr” Smistad to hear which ones they have for the upcoming season.

– Our expectations for the coming season are to perform as well as possible. Personally, it’s about helping my team and utilizing each player’s strengths.

Smistad does not hide that the focus heading into the season has been to improve the individual level of each individual player.

– To prepare for the season, we focus on maintaining a high individual level, where each individual is responsible for improving their own game. It is usually the individual level that decides matches in Norwegian Counter-Strike. Team-wise, we focus on getting in good training, where the aim is to improve team play and to utilize each other’s strengths.

Thriving as “underdogs”

Gamer.no predicts that Center Gaming will end up in 9th place and move directly down from the Telialigaen this spring.

– What do you think about this prediction?

– I fully understand the prediction, not all of us have the opportunity to do this full-time, but the results speak for themselves. We like to be “underdogs”, then it’s even more fun to win when others don’t expect it.

When he himself is asked to find the fortune-telling ball, Smistad believes that the green-clad people in 777 will have a lot to cheer about this season.

– I think 777 will win this year’s season, as they are very good individually and are in good shape. It probably also helps that they play Counter-Strike full-time.

– berzerk takes a new place this season

When asked which player will really make his breakthrough this season, Smistad sends us to Apeks Rebels.

– I think Tobias “berzerk” Bertelsen will step up during the season, it seems that he is putting in the work required and he is a very versatile player.

In conclusion, Smistad adds that they are looking forward to the matches against the best teams.

– We look forward to meeting the most established teams such as 777, where we can really put ourselves to the test.

Why are we predicting Center Gaming in 9th place?

In a very tough field on the table, there is little that separates the teams. Center Gaming has periodically delivered good results both in major qualifiers, and now most recently in the qualifiers for the Bergen Games.

We still believe that the team is a little too dependent on the day’s form and overperformance from individual players. We think Center Gaming is in the pot among the four weakest teams and will have to fight tooth and nail if they are to survive in the division. The editors therefore believe that Center Gaming ends up in 9th place.

Gamer.no’s table so far:

3.

9. Center Gaming
10. Jotunheimen
