Our trip took us to Baden-Würthemberg. Salem Monastery and Castle and the Affenberg offered interesting insights into a centuries-old culture and into an unusual animal world.

The monastery and castle tour was not only rich in information about one of the most powerful imperial abbeys in Germany with sights from seven centuries, but also gave insights into the monastic life of the Cistercians.

We marveled at the free-living Barbary apes on the Affenberg and saw the stork colony, fallow deer, numerous waterfowl and carp along the picturesque pond.

A cozy conclusion in the rustic brewery inn Schöre in Tettnang (Dietmannsweiler), with beer and snacks from our own production, rounded off this beautiful and interesting day trip.
