Overnight their song “Coco Jamboo” became a worldwide hit, and everyone was talking about the band “Mr. President”. What are the former members doing today?
“Ya-ya-ya coco jamboo, ya-ya yeah. Put me up, put me down…”, it echoed in 1996 from the speakers of every large disco. The song from “Mr. President” becomes an overnight hit, played up and down all over the world. The previously unknown musicians of the group rise to the stars of the industry, everyone knows them.
Almost 30 years later the band no longer exists, the former members Daniela Haak (Lady Danii), Judith Buthmann (T-Seven) and Delroy Rennalls (Lazy Dee) now devote themselves to other tasks. But what exactly is the trio doing today? t-online took a closer look at the career.
Daniela Haak (Lady of Denmark)
The rise was meteoric, today you don’t hear much from Daniela Haak. Many years ago things were different. Not only did she have chart success after chart success with the band, Haak also made headlines privately.
In 2008 she married the professional boxer Markus Beyer. The two even lived near Bremen, the city where the band was originally founded. The couple spent three years together in Lilienthal, on the outskirts of the Hanseatic city. However, in 2010 it was over and the two separated.
And the 49-year-old didn’t want to have anything to do with music either. She founded the fashion label “Haak Design” in September 2009, but not even three years later she gave up the plans and gave up the label.
She had raised the business together with her then husband Markus Beyer. The company operated under the parent company “12Rounds GmbH”, which primarily dealt with “the planning and implementation of preventive and sporting courses and projects in the areas of TinyKids, BuddyKids, TeenDefence, LadysFight” and other sporting activities. The company was also dissolved in 2012. What the singer is doing today is unclear.
Delroy Rennalls (Lazy Dee)
Delroy Rennalls only joined the band in 1994, in the founding year 1991 George Jones (Sir Prophet) was still the male member of the Eurodance band. Success came with Rennalls, and he still makes music today.
In contrast to Daniela Haak, who gave up music, the 56-year-old is still regularly drawn to the stage. To this day he is said to be working as a “songwriter, producer and entertainer” on the “Diezel Records” label in Hanover. Rennalls is also said to have opened a recording studio.
Judith Buthmann (T-Seven)
Born Judith Hinkelmann, now Judith Buthmann (artist name Judith Hildebrandt), T-Seven was part of “Mr. President” from the start. Like her fellow musician Daniela Haak, she also comes from Bremen.
She learned to dance at a young age, later she even did professional singing training and grew into the main vocal of the band. Mega success came with the change from founding member “Sir Prophet” to “Lazy Dee”. Millions of records sold, plus countless awards – the “Mr. President” project shot through the roof.
She only left the band in 2000, but she has remained true to the music to this day. As a solo artist and vocal coach, she now offers “singing lessons for beginners and advanced learners in Bremen,” according to her website.
