According to local media, it all started when staff from the Canape Vert section decided to search a minibus to find out if it was linked to smuggling, but in doing so they found suspects with weapons, which they confiscated.
In addition, it is not clear how the alleged suspects ended up in the hands of the inhabitants who did not hesitate to lynch them. Regarding this, Edner Samuel, one of the witnesses, told The Associated Press that the inhabitants decided to stone the alleged criminals, then put tires on them and doused them with gasoline, and then burned them alive.
