Since 2017, the instant messaging service has allowed users to leave messages, photos and gifs in “status”, its equivalent of stories. WhatsApp will now let you post voice messages.

If you have an important message to convey to all your contacts, you will soon be able to do it in person (or almost) on WhatsApp. The Meta group’s instant messaging service will indeed allow you to leave 30-second voice messages in “status”, as indicated a blog post published by the company.

This “status” (symbolized by a green circle around his profile picture) can be created in the dedicated tab, located at the bottom left when you open the WhatsApp application. It allows users, in the same way as a story on Instagram, to broadcast messages with a lifespan of 24 hours. Currently, it is possible to publish texts, photos, videos or gifs.

Popular voice messages

For several years now, the fashion for voice messages has invaded the various social networks and messaging services. According to WhatsApp7 billion voice messages are exchanged every day in the world.

The company will thus allow users to satisfy their desire to deliver messages out loud. WhatsApp also announced other new features for its story tool. Internet users will be able to choose the audience for their status: their entire list of contacts or specific people.

In the same way as with messages in a classic conversation, it will also be possible to respond to statuses with “reactions”. By swiping up and pressing, eight emojis will be offered to react to the contents of your contacts. Users will also be able to reply with text, stickers or… voice messages.
