The long-awaited return of one of the most acclaimed horror game franchises is upon us. During the PlayStation Showcase, Sony released a new trailer for Alan Wake 2with the right to introduce a new character to the story and some details about the plot that, once again, will take players through a labyrinth of insanity and horror.

In the video, we check out the first gameplay images of the title and also the appearance of Wake himself. The writer claims to be trapped in a nightmare and, as he writes to save his own life, he sees the darkness getting closer and closer. On the other side of this supposed reality is FBI agent Anderson, who goes to the city of Bright Falls to investigate the murder of colleague Robert Nightingale.

The place is known to fans of the franchise, being the scenario of the first game in the franchiseand while different realities are mixed, a horror story straight out of the pages written by the protagonist unfolds. Alan Wake 2 returns to focusing on the use of lighting as an element that weakens enemies, who also seem to attack with more ferocity in this new version.

Among the many novelties of the new look at the game, we even have a special participation by the director himself, Sam Lake, who also seems to play an FBI agent. Meanwhile, fans are already racking their brains to discover possible links between Alan Wake 2 and other recent Remedy games such as Control e Quantum Breakwho seem to live in a shared universe.

What is the Alan Wake 2 release date?

Fans won’t have to wait long to find out all this. Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 17th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. The title is already available for pre-order in stores on each of the platforms and will be released exclusively digitally, with no plans for disc versions.
