The Municipality of La Plata began with placement of digital patent readers that will work in different parts of the city, as part of the design of a Security Digital Ring that seeks to prevent crime in the region. High-resolution cameras and optical recognition systems will be able to read and record vehicle license plates in real time.

The devices capture and analyze vehicle license plates in real time. As reported, the system will start working from June 1st y It will be located at the access to the distributor and the descent of the Autopista La Plata – Buenos Aires.

“This technology allows constant and automatic surveillance of vehicles entering and leaving the city, facilitating the identification and monitoring of those involved in illegal or suspicious activities”pointed out the secretary of Public Policies in Community Security and Justice, Nestor Pulichino. “In addition, the automatic reading of license plates allows the rapid and accurate detection of stolen vehicles, which contributes to reducing the rate of this type of crime”added the local official.

On the other hand, the devices also monitor compliance with traffic regulations and control speed in specific areas: in case of identifying an infraction, the system is capable of generating instant alerts so that the competent authorities can take the corresponding measures.

From the Commune they explained that the devices that will make up the Digital Security Ring have powerful high-resolution cameras and optical character recognition (OCR) systems to read and register the plates in real time.

Once installed, they will capture images of the vehicles that pass through their field of vision, extracting the information from the patents, to then compare the information obtained with a centralized database that contains records of stolen vehicles, with pending complaints or some type of legal irregularity.
