This week the Government closed an agreement that carries the signature of the ministers of Economy and Education of the Nation together with the different chambers that group the private education institutions in which a cap was set on quota increases of these institutions.

The same participated Argentine Chamber of Private Institutions (CAIEP), the Coordinating Board of Private Education Associations of the Argentine Republic (COORDIEP) and the Superior Council of Catholic Education (CONSUDEC) who appeared in front of Sergio Massa –Economy– and Jaime Perczyk -Education-. The latter thanked the chambers for calling in order to ensure the agreement that will take place in all Catholic schools and those that are enrolled in the signatory associations; in La Plata this will apply in the same way.

“We were able to advance in an agreement that gives us the peace of mind of knowing that for all Argentine households that have their children or their children of school age, we give them predictability, we give them certainty”said the head of the Palacio de Hacienda.

For his part, Perczyk thanked “the effort, work and commitment of the representatives of private education to give predictability to increases in school fees and bring economic peace of mind to families.”

“Argentina has an educational system in which 75% are public establishments and the remaining 25 are private, which is why we appreciate your joining this agreement”, he highlighted. In addition, he stated that this agreement “is one more step towards the beginning of the next school year” and invited the 23 provinces and the City of Buenos Aires to “adhere to the agreement signed today.”

The agreement establishes that private schools with state subsidies may increase fees by 16.8% in March and 3.35% in April, May and June.

The signing of the agreement also included the Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini; the Executive Adviser of the Ministry of Education, Mario Caputo; the director of Public Education for Private Management, María Gloria Zingoni; the General Secretary of the Federal Education Council, Marcelo Mango; and the Undersecretary of Policies for the Internal Market, Gustavo Faskowicz.
