Unterfoehring, May 1, 2023 – Only one victory separates the four remaining teams from the trip to Berlin, where the final of the DFB Cup will be played on June 3. Sky will broadcast both semi-final pairings live on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Sky Q customers will also have the opportunity to experience both games in Ultra HD.
The first duel on Tuesday is the repeat of last year’s final, for which SC Freiburg welcomes defending champion RB Leipzig. After the extremely narrow defeat on penalties a year ago, the Breisgauer now want to go back to the final in the Olympic Stadium and finally celebrate their first title in the club’s history. With a win, the Saxons would reach their fourth DFB Cup final in five years and have the opportunity to repeat last year’s triumph. The next day the second finalist will be determined. VfB Stuttgart, threatened with relegation, is expecting the reigning Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt. While the Swabians want to make it into the final for the first time in ten years, it would be Eintracht’s third final appearance in the recent past after losing in the 2017 final and winning the title in 2018.
