New York authorities recently announced that they have arrested the allegedOr Gilgo Beach Serial Killer that ended the lives of several women. The man was identified as Rex Heuermann and he is a 59-year-old architect, who has two children.
Heuermann was arrested in manhattan Thursday night, more than 10 years after several remains of women were discovered on a suburban Long Island beach road.
Now the man is being accused three counts of first degree murder and three counts of second degree murder, which could lead to Heuermann being sentenced to life without parole if he is found guilty.
Who is Rex Heuermann?
According to an interview Heuermann did last year, he is a consulting architect who was born and raised on Long Island and works in Manhattan for his firm, HR Consultants & Associates. Reports indicate that the alleged killer is a married man and has two children, one of them, with special needs.
Heuermann’s neighbors discovered him as a “average family man” and quiet. “I used to see him on the train because I also take the train to the city every morning. He was walking by my house. He saw his wife driving a beat-up car (…) I never really thought they were involved in something crazy like this ”, he claimed Michael Musto, neighbor of the suspect.

Defense attorney weighs in on the case
Michael Brown, the person in charge of defending Heuermann, said that his client cried assuring that he is not responsible for the deaths of the women and that the evidence against him is “extremely circumstantial”. Brown stressed that his client remains innocent until proven guilty and added that he will fight in court.
