The Secret Service closed its investigation into the discovery of a bag of cocaine in the White House because he understood that it was not worth investing resources for a misdemeanor case.

The agency announced Thursday that, Despite not having found a person responsible, he closed the investigation.

A Secret Service spokesman told NBC News that the decision was made without interviews.

Inquiries were limited to testing to determine if it was cocaine and the search for fingerprints or DNA traces.

The chain’s report indicates that the examinations did not yield useful evidence. Nor were the videos of the area where the small bag was found. The above led the authorities to rule out interviews with a list of 500 peoplebetween staff members and visitors who passed through the area over a weekend earlier this month.

Anthony Gugliemi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, reported that interviewing all 500 people could be a resource overload, In addition to violating civil liberties, for which reason the procedure was discarded.

Gugliemi also anticipated that the effort could prove fruitless since there was not enough physical evidence to link a person to the drug.

“Yes, we could do interviews with consent,” Gugliemi said, explaining that those conversations would be voluntary. “But we don’t have evidence to approach (people),” the spokesperson added.

The small 208-milligram (about .007-ounce) portion of cocaine discovered in the West Wing from the precinct would be a misdemeanor in the District of Columbia.

Republicans have thundered against the Biden Administration in recent days for allegedly not doing everything to find the person responsible.

Even former President Donald Trump exposed his criticism on Thursday through the Truth Social network. “Despite all the cameras pointing right at the ‘crime scene,’ and the best forensics in the world, they just can’t figure it out? They know the answer, and so does everyone else!” the former president stated.

Marijuana on two previous occasions

Last year, the Secret Service seized marijuana twice at the official presidential residence.

The information was disclosed in a closed-door hearing this Thursday before the Oversight Committee of the House of Representatives.

In 2022, twice through inspections, people were caught with marijuana in his possession, Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert told reporters.

The findings were reported in June and September. However, their investigation was unsuccessful as the amount of the drug did not meet the legal threshold for federal charges and misdemeanor charges in the District, since marijuana possession was decriminalized, the Secret Service explained.
