The Killers received boos in Georgia after inviting a Russian fan on stage

Brandon Flowers brought a Russian fan up on stage with the band. When the nationality of the guest was made known, they immediately dropped the boo for the Las Vegas group.

“We don’t know the customs of this land, but this guy is Russian. Are you okay with a Russian being here? I’m fine with that, said the vocalist noticing the discomfort of the audience. But far from calming the moment, it seems that the front man he inadvertently added fuel to the matter.

Flowers began to talk about the brotherhood among the fans. “He’s not your brother? Do the borders of our countries separate us? Tonight we want to celebrate that we are all here together… I see you as my brothers and sistersadded the singer. But The Killers received the boos in Georgia regardless.

The reason for the boos and the band’s apology

The context for all of this has to do with Russia’s invasion of other countries that once shared territory as part of the Soviet Union. Let’s remember that in 2008, the Russians invaded Georgia. And according to The Guardianto this day the country headed by Vladimir Putin continues to occupy 20 percent of Georgian territory.

Thus, a good part of Georgians maintain a pro-Ukrainian position in the midst of the recent conflict with Russia. So if The Killers got booed in Georgia, it’s because of Brandon Flowers’ comments where he tried to tie these nations together as brothers.

According to reports, a part of the public left the concert from the Las Vegas band, but they continued their show to the end. However, they were quick to issue a public apology to explain the matter.

“Good people of Georgia, it was never our intention to offend anyone”says a statement where it is also noted that at first, people seemed to agree with the fan invited on stage. “We recognize that a comment intended to suggest that the entire audience of The Killers are ‘sisters and brothers’, it could be misconstrued”the band said with an apology.

How do you see this about The Killers getting booed in Georgia? The thing got medium dense, without a doubt. They promise to return to the country, to see if they don’t have them running from now on. What a case. Here’s the band’s statement:
