Wildfire in NJ threatens camping facilities and closes nearby roads

A wildfire broke out Monday afternoon in Woodland Township located in Burlington County, New Jersey.

The emergency took place along Coopers Road in the Acorn Hill Wildfire Sector within the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest.

The NJ Forest Fire Service posted on Facebook and Twitter that the fire was consuming around 25 acres of the park and as work began to contain it a smoke screen covered the area.

The roads affected by the work of the firefighters were:

  • Glassworks Trail
  • coopers road
  • Various local and state highways that encircle the forest park

Among the structures threatened by the fire are:

  • Sites within the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest available to campers.
