FC St. Pauli has apparently identified a potential newcomer to Union Berlin. According to a ‘Bild’ report, the neighborhood club is targeting Nico Gießelmann as Leart Paqarada’s successor. The latter will move to 1. FC Köln on a free transfer in the summer and leave behind a squad construction site in the back left of defence.

In addition to the 31-year-old Gießelmann, St. Pauli also has Brooklyn Ezeh on the list. Ten years younger and playing two classes lower at SV Wehen-Wiesbaden, the native of Hamburg would be the promising alternative to the seasoned Bundesliga professional. Ezeh is still tied to Hessen until 2024, while Gießelmann’s contract with Union expires in the summer.
