At the beginning of the episode “Fette Beute” of the “Wilsberg” crime series (ZDF, Saturday, 8.15 p.m.) Wilsberg (Leonard Lansink) and Ekki Talkötter (Oliver Korittke) come under suspicion traffic accident because of her inattention to be in debt. But Wilsberg fans quickly realize that this is nonsense. The dead man works for a hip internet start-up. There are suspicious pills in the glove compartment.

Director Martin Enlen and screenwriter Stefan Rogall lead the audience into a wild story about the pressure to succeed, resentment in management and trouble with the competition. The new start-up is attracting a lot of attention in Münsterland with an app that provides services such as caretaker work. The customers are happy – the middle class is raging because of the unwanted low-priced competition.

The biggest challenge for the viewers: to see through the confusion of investigators, suspects and victims. The Wilsberg makers are taking it upon themselves and letting Ekki comment critically: “Does everyone sleep with everyone here?” And another screenplay trick in this crime comedy: Inspector Overbeck (Roland Jankowsky), who also makes a fool of himself several times in this episode, gets a top fool at his side. Andreas Merker plays a stupid patrolman who is supposed to help Overbeck with the investigation – and drives his superior insane.

The supporting roles are superbly cast. Stephan Grossmann (“Bundschuh Family”) plays a nasty investor, Michelle Barthel (“Tatort”) and Ron Helbig (“In aller Freundlich”) the quarreling company bosses. Moritz Heidelbach (“Family Dr. Kleist”) and Hans Brückner (“Der Pass”) also engage in a gripping father-son duel in the dispute over the future of the family’s carpentry workshop. Since the app founders have offered a reward of one million euros to clarify the death of their employee, everyone is investigating – and everyone could also be the perpetrator.

In the end, only one question remains unanswered: Who actually made the fat booty here?
