Microsoft offers some solutions while waiting to fix the Start menu bug

Microsoft has confirmed that the bug affects users running Windows 10 and 11 (versions between 20H2 and 22H2). However, the bug does not come from a Windows update as is often the case. This time it is the damaged registry keys that affect applications using the Office API. This is therefore the case of the ClickShare application. Microsoft does explain that the bug can occur when a third-party process like ClickShare uses Office APIs on a computer where Office was installed via Office ClickToRun.

A fix will be deployed soon in an upcoming update. In the meantime, users are invited to uninstall apps that integrate with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and the Calendar app. For example, ” if Barco ClickShare v4.27.0.x is installed, restore, uninstall or upgrade to stop the spread “, recommends Microsoft.

The guide also offers several scripts to download to ” resolve the issue when it occurs, although scripts cannot prevent the issue from occurring again “. In any case, a fix will be deployed as soon as Microsoft fixes the problem.
