Windows 11 File Explorer is about to receive its biggest update since Windows 8. Microsoft is reportedly preparing an improved interface, new features and even integration with Microsoft 365.
While Windows 3.1 celebrated its 31e anniversary last week, Windows 11 continues to innovate in an effort to improve the user experience. Microsoft’s latest operating system is now ready to host File Explorer redesign. This would be the biggest File Explorer update since Windows 8.
The Windows Latest site reported that, according to its sources, Windows 11’s File Explorer should get a facelift soon. Its interface will be improved and new features will be added to make File Explorer even easier and more convenient to use. At the moment, Windows 11 users are encountering a bug that causes File Explorer to open suddenly.
Windows 11 File Explorer will become more modern and convenient to use
Windows Latest has shared some long-awaited new features for File Explorer. At the interface level, it is to be expected a new header design with a “Home” button, a more modern search box and file directory. The left navigation area and the file explorer details panel would also be improved.
In terms of file explorer functionality, Microsoft would prepare a new “Gallery” area to improve image viewing with a more attractive format. This feature, however, would still be “ unstable ”, according to the sources of Windows Latest. Microsoft must therefore still work on it. The file explorer would also benefit from a integration with Microsoft 365 for recommended files and in-depth file details.
We don’t know yet when this more modern file explorer will be available for Windows 11 users. Microsoft shouldn’t be long in rolling out the new version, however, especially for users of the Insider program who are testing the new features in preview. By the way, Windows Latest also reported that future versions of Windows 11 may have a new File Explorer with better performance and web integration.
