Man dies after being shot while walking after Dolphin game

SWEETWATER.- The community of Doral has expressed shock over the death of a 17-year-old young man, a student at High School JC Bermudez, who lost his life when the motorcycle he was traveling on collided with a van-type truck that was making a crossing at the left.

The accident occurred around 4 pm in the area of ​​Northwest 112th Avenue and 20th Street, a few blocks northeast of the Dolphin Mall.

Sweetwater and Miami-Dade police responded to the scene where a yellow tarp was placed to cover the victim’s body next to the crashed motorcycle.

The police reported that the young man was driving with a safety helmet, but that the impact was so severe that he died instantly. They also indicated that the 29-year-old woman who was driving the truck remained at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by police authorities.

Unofficially, it was known that the victim was Giancarlo Villasmil, who had just graduated from High School.

Members of the student community expressed their pain on social networks and remembered their friend and colleague as a friendly, happy person, a good student and an excellent son. “We are devastated. Two weeks ago was the graduation party and now we have to live through this. I have intense pain in my chest,” said one of the students in her class on her social networks.

Those close to the victim’s family opened an account in GoFundMe to raise funds to cover funeral expenses.
