MIAMI.- Miami-Dade County has been recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) as part of the Awards to Achievement 2023 awarded in the US to local governments for “implementing innovative local programs to improve service, achieve cost savings, help develop a better workforce, and improve accountability.”
But the celebration goes beyond others this year, as NACo has awarded an impressive 75 achievement awards to 13 county departments in various program categories, including “Best in Class” to the Department of Information Technology for its Public Safety Evaluation Program, which improves the results in the pre-trial process for the judicial system in this Florida territory.
To the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava, These awards reflect Miami-Dade County’s innovative spirit and relentless commitment to delivering excellence every day.
“I am very proud of the ongoing efforts to develop new and innovative programs that help improve services to our community and highlight what our county has to offer,” said the public servant.
The departments that stood out the most for their management as reflected in the NACo Achievement awards are Information Technology, with 25 awards; the Miami-Dade Public Library System, with 15 awards and the Department of Communication and Customer Experience, with 6 awards.
On the growth in the information technology sector, which makes the county deserving of several awards, NACo explained that “the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) is an actuarial pre-trial evaluation that predicts the probability of not appearing in court Pretrial Release (FTA) Criminal Rearrest During Pretrial Release (NCA) Violent Criminal Rearrest During Pretrial Release (NVCA) This is because the PSA generates scaled scores from 1 to 6 for FTA and NCA and generates a flag to indicate whether a person has a high probability of NVCA.”
