On tour of the western US, Biden seeks to highlight his achievements, contrast with Trump

Biden’s first stop will be the Grand Canyon, where he is expected to announce plans for a new national monument to preserve more than 1 million acres (405,000 hectares) and limit uranium mining. After Arizona, he will travel to New Mexico and Utah.

The Democratic president will be in Albuquerque on Wednesday to speak about how the fight against climate change has created new jobs, and will visit Salt Lake City on Thursday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the PACT Act, which provides new benefits to veterans who They were exposed to toxic substances. He will also hold a re-election fundraiser in each city.

Biden will use the three-night trip to “continue to underscore the progress he is making on his agenda,” particularly on climate change, said Natalie Quillian, White House deputy chief of staff.

“You can expect us to highlight more innovative projects, more openings and opportunities to show the American people how these investments and jobs are coming to their communities and neighborhoods,” Quillian said.

The White House has been pushing to demonstrate the impact of Biden’s policies, hoping to take advantage of low inflation and strong jobs numbers in an attempt to improve the president’s poor poll results.

Biden will be rested after more than a week of vacation in Delaware, where he stayed at family homes in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington.
