Woman arrested for allegedly stabbing two men near Dupont Circle

Two men were stabbed near Dupont Circle on Friday night, according to DC police, and one of them was hospitalized after receiving a stab wound to the neck.

At around 7:45 p.m. Friday, the Metropolitan Police Department and DC firefighters responded to the corner of 22nd Street NW and P Street NW.

Both victims were conscious and breathing when first responders arrived at the scene.

According to DC police, the first man said he was walking down P Street toward the intersection when he felt “a strong punch to the back of the head.”

When he turned around, he saw a woman walking away from him towards the second man, who was sitting at a bus stop.

The first man then watched as the woman stabbed the second victim in the neck and ran off, according to the DC police report on the incident.

The man stabbed in the neck was treated at a hospital and is expected to survive. The first man was treated at the scene by first aid and did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The woman was later detained by a US Secret Service agent and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, according to the police report.

According to Jeff Rueckgauer, a commissioner for the area where the stabbing occurred, the woman may have suffered a mental breakdown.

Authorities believe the woman did not know the two men.
