A woman has died in Long Beach after she was ejected from the car she was traveling in when a driver of an SUV caused a crash while making dangerous maneuvers.

The woman died shortly before 11 p.m. Friday near Willow Street and Caspian Avenue after the van she was traveling in approached the intersection and was struck by the other car, which was making donuts, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The van subsequently struck a tree in mid-centre, throwing the woman into the street. The driver, a 20-year-old man, cooperated with police.

The driver who allegedly caused the crash fled before police arrived. The vehicle was described as possibly silver or tan in color.

Anyone with information is asked to call Long Beach Police Detective Shawn Loughlin at 562-570-7355.
