A woman died after a piece of metal struck her vehicle as she was driving on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia.

Caramia Panichelli, 33, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2014 Subaru Impreza southbound on I-95 at mile marker 20 near Columbus Boulevard Monday at 4:41 p.m. when a large piece of metal punctured the windshield of her car. car on the driver’s side, police said.

The metal then impacted Panichelli, who died from his injuries.

Authorities have not yet determined where the debris came from. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call the Philadelphia Station of the Pennsylvania State Police at 215-452-5216.

The incident occurred a day after a tanker truck crashed on I-95 in northeast Philadelphia, starting a fire that caused a portion of the highway to collapse. The truck driver was found dead in the rubble a day later.
