Steve Wozniak, aka Woz, is something of a full-time tech celebrity these days who enjoys speaking out often on hot topics. No wonder, because as the co-founder of Apple he has become something of a historical figure. He is currently commenting on the subject of Tesla.

The 72-year-old is a self-confessed fan of electromobility and bought his first Tesla – a Model S, to be precise – back in 2013. For a long time he was also enthusiastic about the vehicle, but in recent years his enthusiasm has cooled off, and noticeably so.

Wozniak: Tesla breaks self-driving promise

As early as 2017, he complained that he felt duped by the car manufacturer and its boss Elon Musk. The reason for this was the unfulfilled promises regarding the self-driving functions. Wozniak said that one should not rely on the promises from the Tesla environment. Although he said at the time that he still loves his Tesla, he no longer believes in what the manufacturer and his boss say.

Now he reported back on the subject and shifted up a gear in criticism. Because how Electrek Citing Wozniak’s interview with CNN, Woz said, in essence, that the Tesla AI is out to kill its owners: “I actually believed those things, and they don’t even come close to having anything to do with reality. And boy, if you want a study of AI gone wrong that makes a lot of claims and tries to kill you at every opportunity, buy a Tesla.” Woz doesn’t mince his words with this undoubtedly exaggerated statement and apparently also has no fear of the Tesla lawyers, who are not particularly afraid to sue people for defamation. Whether they will actually mess with the Apple legend is another question, as that would probably draw too much attention.
