After a confirmed increase in Japan, the Xbox Series X and S are also seeing their prices inflate in Europe. Microsoft has decided to increase the prices of its two consoles in Sweden. Eventually, France also risks being affected by such an increase.

Phil Spencer had already announced the color last October. The big boss of gaming at Microsoft had confided that it was necessary to expect possible price increases for Xbox products and services. “We have maintained the price of our console, we have maintained the price of games and our subscription. I don’t think we can do this forever. At some point we will have to increase the prices of certain things”.

Xbox Series X and S: how much do the two consoles cost?

To the chagrin of consumers, the process has already started. A few weeks ago, Microsoft confirmed the increase in the price of its next-gen consoles in Japan, namely 35 euros more for the Xbox Series X and 40 euros more for the Xbox Series S. And more recently, Microsoft has also inflated its rates in Sweden. As spotted by Gaming Deputy, the price of the Xbox Series X has increased from 5695 SEK (516 euros) to 6195 SEK (562 euros), an increase of 46 euros.

Same fight for the Xbox Series S which now costs 3894 SEK (353 euros) instead of 3595 SEK (326 euros), a difference of 27 euros. “We regularly assess the impact of local pricing to maintain reasonable consistency across regions,” Microsoft said at the time of the Japanese increase, acknowledging that it was a “difficult decision to make”.

It remains to be seen whether such an increase could happen in France. Nothing indicates it for the moment but the fact that a European country is affected does not invite optimism. For the moment, the Xbox Series X costs 499.99 euros in our region. Its little sister is priced at 299.99 euros. As a reminder, Microsoft has also increased the price of its Xbox and Windows games.
