The Xbox Series X / S will soon benefit from a new interface that is more refined and pleasant to use. Microsoft has already rolled out this interface for participants of the Xbox Insider program.

Since the release of the Xbox Series X and S in November 2020, Microsoft has regularly modified the interface of the consoles to improve the user experience. He made a few improvements here and there, but the Xbox interface always felt like it was behind compared to its competitors and in particular the PlayStation 5. A PS5 Pro is also expected for Christmas 2024 according to the information shared by a reputable leaker in the middle.

Microsoft therefore presented a new, cleaner interface for Xbox Series X/S. Even if the Xbox Series flopped with sales collapsing compared to those of the PS5, Microsoft has ” designed hundreds of options” and prototypes that have been tested internally. The new design chosen focuses on accessibility, experience, needs and features.

The new Xbox Series X/S homepage is less cluttered to enjoy the background

The new Xbox Series interface is already available for participants of the Xbox Insider Program and more specifically for “Alpha” or “Alpha Skip-Ahead” members. Microsoft has confirmed that this design is no longer as busy as it used to be. So gamers can better enjoy their Xbox wallpaper without it being cluttered with various apps. The interface ” simplifies the layout and gives you more room to see your background by reducing the size of some tiles and moving them to the bottom of the screen ».

In addition, Microsoft thought of launching a quick access menu at the top of the homepage. This menu makes it easier and quicker to navigate to the Library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, Settings, and more. The last main novelty of this Xbox interface is the arrival of a functionality related to Game Art. This allows to change the default background depending on which game tile you are hovering over in the menu. A visual art of the title in question is displayed each time you hover over it.

Finally, Microsoft has not yet given a precise date, but the new Xbox Series X / S interface which no longer allows PlayStation and Nintendo emulation should soon to be available for all players. Changes and improvements will also likely be made based on feedback from the Insider program.
