After CyberDog in 2021, Xiaomi will (re)present its CyberOne humanoid robot at Mobile World Congress 2023 (WMC) in Barcelona at the end of the month. It was Lei Jun, founder and CEO of the Chinese high-tech manufacturer who announced it via Twitter:
Announced by Xiaomi in August as a “bionic humanoid robot”, Lei Jun took advantage of the end of the Mix Fold 2 conference in Beijing to quickly bring CyberOne on stage. In his own words, the robot “had just learned to walk”, his gait could benefit from a clear progression, which will (hopefully) be observable at the WMC.
Unlike Boston Dynamics’ acrobatic robots, CyberOne is more intended for interaction with humans, with whom it shares its appearance: it measures 1m77 and weighs 52 kilos. His vision program allows him to perceive space in three dimensions, to recognize individuals, gestures and expressions. Above all, his emotional intelligence is particularly developed since he can recognize 45 different human emotions from the voice.
CyberDog, CyberOne’s best friend?
It is possible that he will be accompanied during this presentation by CyberDog, Xiaomi’s other robot unveiled in 2021. This little metal dog which is reminiscent of Boston Dynamics’ Spot could well have been improved during this period. of time. The robot-dog is controllable in particular by voice and it is easy to imagine CyberOne ordering CyberDog to show off.
Xiaomi has announced that it is manufacturing 1,000 robots of its two models, with the main goal of providing an affordable way to learn programming and robotics. Indeed, Cyberdog can already be bought for 1,600 dollars, when its colleague Spot is selling for around 74,000 dollars. These robots are therefore not intended to be available to the general public or to fulfill a particular function.
In addition to its advances in robotics, Xiaomi has teased the announcement of the Xiaomi 13. The company’s keynote will take place on February 27 and will be busy!
