XX edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival announced

CARACAS.- With the support of Fundearc, Cinex, Nueva Esparta Government, Maneiro Mayor’s Office, Movistar, Costa Azul Shopping Center, Tibisay Boutique Hotel, Margarita University, British Council and the French Embassy, ​​the Venezuelan Film Festival (FCV) is preparing for its XX edition.

The director of the event, Karina Gómez Franco, announced in a meeting with the media the lineup of 22 fiction feature films and 12 documentaries, along with 36 fiction short films and 23 documentaries; in addition to 26 universities in the Audiovisual University competition. Selection that seeks to promote the diversity and richness of Venezuelan cinema.

María Luisa de la Terga, from Movistar integrated marketing communications, and Griselda Contreras, director of the Margarita Tourism Corporation and representative of the Nueva Esparta State Government, were also present at the meeting with the press where they expressed their pleasant expectations for the accompany this unique journey for cinema, culture and tourism.

This year, the FCV will take place on Margarita Island from June 16 to 20 and pay tribute to the masters of cinema Franco Rubartelli, Luis Alberto Lamata, María Cristina Capriles and Super 8. In addition, the celebration of talent Venezuelan cinematography will provide the opportunity for training with workshops, conferences and meetings with the creators behind the works.

“The twentieth edition of the Venezuelan Film Festival not only seeks to entertain, but also to recognize the excellence and diversity of the film productions of the South American country. The award categories will highlight the best in first film, direction, script, acting and much more, offering a platform for Venezuelan filmmakers to show their art to the world. For its part, the qualifying jury to award the Press Prize is made up of journalism professionals, according to the union designation of the National College of Journalists (CNP)”, detailed the production in a statement.
